Choosing “Almost Perfect” as the film name was ironically perfect and the best fit. This is because there are numerous connotations for the words almost and perfect. The direct meaning of the word almost is not quite. For the precise meaning of perfect, it is having every quality or desire as good as possible. These words suit the film's social issues of gender stereotypes and anxiety/mental health. Where our main character Isabella, who is a teenage girl, feels pressure to look her best to attract a guy named Noah by her appearance rather than the perception of her personality. Which also ties into our film's social issues as Isabella may seem nervous and excited about her date when Noah calls her to tell her something, but she doesn't want to answer as she isn't ready. Yet, she makes it a big deal to answer the call when Claire tells her to answer and then refuses to pick up the phone.
Also, by the end of the opening, she opens the door to which it was not Noah and instead Adam her ex. The idea of everything going perfectly for her date quickly goes downhill from the beginning of the opening to the end. In hindsight the song and meaning behind the movie tie together incredibly.
